AMAC Chief Warns Obama May Benefit if Supreme Court Overturns Obamacare

‘We need to be prepared for this ironic, but potentially dangerous chain of events.’  –

BOHEMIA, NY June 15 – If the Supreme Court strikes down Obamacare this month, it could help President Obama and his Congressional backers in November, according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

“It could take the ‘hot potato’ issue off the table for voters, allowing Mr. Obama to initiate an aggressive post-election push for a new, equally unappetizing nationalized health care plan if he wins,” Weber said.

“We need to be prepared for this ironic, but potentially dangerous chain of events.”

Washington’s influential online newspaper, Roll Call, published an Opinion Article by the AMAC chief this week in which he offered advice to legislators opposed to what he has called “one of the most onerous pieces of legislation” ever proposed in D.C.

“Should the court strike down the law, Members should immediately take to the floor and pass a resolution warning Obama not to repeat his earlier attack on the court. Then they should introduce the sort of market-based reforms that would establish barriers to any future attempts at nationalized health care. Tax incentives for doctors who care for the indigent would do much to eliminate the problem of the uninsured while strengthening the kind of private practice and medical entrepreneurship that government and big health care institutions discourage.

“If the court strikes down the individual mandate but leaves in place the rest of the law, both chambers should repeal or defund its remaining parts. Two good places to start would be the Independent Payment Advisory Board and the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission.

“Finally, if the court keeps the law in place, then the House should do another repeal vote while opponents in the Senate should at least try to schedule one.”

Mr. Weber’s full OpEd piece is available at

The article talks about how the law’s passage in 2010 “spooked American business” and did incalculable damage to the nation’s hopes for a quick recovery from “the Obama recession.”

It recalls how big businesses took multimillion-dollar health care write offs, noting that AT&T’s write off was a “cool million.”  And it blames the law on unprecedented hikes of 20% to 40% in health care costs for small businesses, which directly stymied job creation.

“The opportunity is at hand to put this issue front and center this fall.”  It will also provide a chance “to highlight an historic lesson in how government suffocates economic growth.  Perhaps we can “finally kill off the idea of a nationalized health care system,” Weber suggested, noting that “public opposition has hardened and grown, with some polls showing more than 60 percent of the public opposing the individual mandate and 60 percent of doctors citing damage to patient care and their practice.”

The Association of Mature American Citizens [] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those traditional organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.

Why does AMAC prepare a report which lists all “bad” and the hidden items in Obamacare?

Why not list the items in Obama care that are good?

Instead of just saying they are against Obamacare be specific,

The Youth have only been told the Good items……..Carrying kids to age 26 on insurance, etc.
Being against Obamacare is viewed as being against progress and change…..

I know that is not the fact but that is what comes across in the the messages.

Because nothing in Obamacare is “good.” All it does is remove decision-making from the patient and exacerbates the problems it purports to “fix.”

Obamacare is a Behemoth that should be struck down. Obama is a community organizer that should be thrown out of office and he should take Nancy Pelosi with him. The first thing we have to do is get rid of Obama. He wants control of everything and puts his nose into so many things that aren’t his problem. I get so sick of listening to his voice almost every day spewing his b.s. to get votes from the minorities. He’s desperate and he will say anything to get re-elected. Encourage your conservative friends to vote before our country goes down in flames.

You are wasting your worry. Obama will be sent packing in November irregardless of the outcome of Obamacare.

You are a dreamer. Unless Mr. Romney comes up with specifics on how he is going to lead this country back to prosperity and can inspire the American people to follow him through motivated speeches we will have another four years of Obama.

In additon, those that represent us in Washington are worthless. All they care about is re-election and their summer vacations.

I don’t car that AMAC is political because I just want someone to fight for what is right and AMAC seems to be doing that and a lot more. We will have to defeat O’bama in November to be sure.

Y’r right Mr Allen & some pieholes are better tasting than others. Don’t need the government when or how to stuff. Matter of fact with all the money put into the government & everything they send overseas might be time for them to start thinking bout good ole USA.

Opinions are like……pieholes; everybody has them. Arguments to the contrary can be just as strongly advanced. Why get everybody worked up about something that SHOULD happen; the upcoming election notwithstanding. Just let things play out and deal with the outcome.

Agree 100% — It’s a bad health care bill and should be struck down NOW. Whatever happens in and after November (or between now and November) should not influence anyone’s views about striking down Obamacare now.

It easy to sit here and talk about the urgency of this election and how we must support a candidate that under any circumstance is not a solution but he is just another nail in our coffin. What do we do if obozo wins. What are we going to do if Romney gets elected but doesn’t repeal obozocare. When are we going to rise up and demand these things that our leaders and candidates give plenty of lip service but, no action. What are we going to do if obozo wins and effectively neutralizes the second amendment. AARP is a non issue. We can put them out of business in short order. What is an issue is that for all of our rhetoric we have no teeth. We must all answer the question, what if? What is the consequence to these “leaders” when they defy our will. The NRA has the answer. They will have to pry my guns from our cold dead hands”. What is our plan when scotus does virtually nothing to stop the power grab that is obozocare. Plan B is where we need to focus all of our energy.

Google “NRA and 1st ammendment” then educate yourself on how they are willing to sell anyone out. I dropped those traitors and joined my states gun lobby (Oregon Firearms Federation). Remember, power corrupts. Their actions during “Citizens United” to throw every gun rights group, except theirs, under the bus opened my eyes to their true motives. Stop drinking the coolaid. True Patriots honor all of the Ammendments.
Harsh words and I wish I was wrong about the NRA but read and learn.

IMHO, Steve.

I believed some people misunderstood. I am active in politics. I am a Tea Party member. I am running for the school board this fall. I dislike everything about Obama: gay marriages, abortion, illegal immigration, etc I want Obamacare fully done away with. But I did not join Amac for that purpose. I do not plan to leave and consider Amac a
good organization. I hope you guys now understand what I was saying.

I think that AMAC is a poor organization and that Conservatives could do better. AMAC just goes in circles on issues, whines a lot and makes the Conservative movement look bad.

Need to keep the focus on the economy which the health plan with effect negatively with higher cost even if it is overturned.
The election is about economics 101, free enterprise vs. socialism/communism. That is the issue.

Obamacare is bad and should the Supreme Court strike it down it would look real bad for Obama. Imagine most of We The People don’t want it and the Supreme Court also find it illegal that power grab. Obama put most of his chips on Obamacare. After that all he has left is his gulf club. By now even many of the lame street media is turning against him

AARP has already reaped millions from insurers and the healthcare industry. Why be so greedy? They obviously do not
need it and why take a once beneficial senior organization down the tubes over greed? That is the liberal agenda behind
every cause. Tax and rip off the poor needy and the senior people. The more our government will pour funds into these
categories of people, the more AARP stands to reap. This is atrocious and an outrage. A disgrace to our country and
the way of life in America. It’s very similar to the weasels that take 75% of charity funds for administrative costs and only
25% goes to the charity. Gov’t funding is taxpayer money being returned to the taxpayer for just reasons and should be
processed by the already paid government employees. There is not one individual in the country that does not pay federal
tax in some form.. The very poorest people buy gasoline, don’t they? Not to mention thousands of other federally taxed items.

Thankyou AMAC for being there for us. If we dont get things changed our way of life and our freedoms will cease to exist. OBAMA and his deciples must be defeated.

How is it that you think AMAC is there for you — what did AMAC do? I’m about ready to leave the organization because I think AMAC simply goes in circles on issues, whines a lot and makes the Conservative movement look bad. There’s got to be a better Conservative movement out there!?!?!?

Personally, I can’t imagine that the majority of Americans would be interested in any plan that this president offered. Every scheme thus far implemented has failed miserably.

This entire thing is about Control of US. Now in N. Y., the mayor says you can’t drink a large soda. Rule by dictatorship, think about it. How many remember their fathers and mothers putting up with a government like the one they defeated in WWII. Think about where this Country is going or went maybe.

it’s not the size of the soda it’s the fact he is a dictator, if you take care of the little things the big things likely won’t happen

I’m concerned about all the hidden agendas in the Obama Health bill. Learning that 13% will be taxed on sales of homes beginning in 2013. Why should the government get anything from your hard earned investment? It reminds me of the death tax, shame on them!

R Henry

Even scarier if it stays in place.
Sure would make AARP happy…… They stand to make billions on it.

I wish everyone would quit referring to government health plan as Obama Care because it is not “care”. How about Obama “Scare” Plan!

Excuse Me!!! Mervin says:
“One reason longtime members of AARP like myself left that organization is that we wanted an organization for us that provided good information, services, and benefits without it being politically involved. Already it is looking as if we need another organization since Amac is determined to go that way.”

AMAC has always been politically connected, but in the RIGHT WAY! That’s why I joined them. Unlike AARP they don’t have their hands in your pockets so they can support a socialist leader to ruin your life and your way of life. We have been asleep for too many decades. We’ve had too much confidence in out elected officials, giving them too much rope. We’ve created this mess all by ourselves and I, for one, am getting out there doing my best to at least TRY and turn things around. I agree with William’s statement above, “Only option is to get obama out of office” and I’d add, do some ‘house-cleaning’ of Congress!

We can do it, we all have to try. If you think we are going through a lot now, go see the movie “Monumental”.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
