- What’s your take on the Senate races overall? – Ronald; Florida
I’m looking forward to solid conservative victories. We need more leaders like Alaska’s Joe Miller and Florida’s Marco Rubio.
I think the rise of so many conservative candidates who often haven’t had the backing of the establishment – but have had the support of American voters – is indicative of a genuine conservative grassroots uprising that will speak loudly and clearly this November.
- Why are Republicans not attacking Democrats on every aspect, especially with the midterms coming up and it appearing the Republicans will win big? – Jeff; Texas
I think that depends on what Republicans you’re talking about.
I see plenty of GOP conservatives calling out Democrats when it comes to the economy, national security, immigration, and other key issues. Jim DeMint and Paul Ryan have had quite a bit to say. 2010 contenders like Marco Rubio, Sharron Angle, and Joe Miller have persistently drawn clear distinctions between themselves and their big-government opponents. Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich have been leading national voices in setting the record straight on the Obama agenda.
Of course, there are many Republicans who haven’t been so quick to criticize Democrats. Many of them fall into the RINO category, and their world view is hence quite similar to that of a Democrat. See Lisa Murkowski, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins for details.
As we’ve seen time and again, it’s not Republicans we can necessarily count on. It’s conservatives.
- Have you read Meghan McCain’s new book? She slams Sarah Palin quite a bit. – Sue; New York
I haven’t read it. But that’s only because I have some really pressing things to spend the $14 on right now. Like a toy water gun. Or a yo-yo. Or an eight-pack of gum.
- Other than Human Events and The Daily Caller, which online sites or publications do you really like? – Mike; Florida
I read several in addition to the two mentioned above, including National Review Online, The American Spectator, FOXNews.com, American Thinker, Breitbart’s Big Government, Drudge Report, NewsBusters.org, and others. Conservatives4Palin.com is the place to go – in my opinion – for up-to-date, comprehensive information on Sarah Palin.
I primarily follow writers, not publications. I love independent-minded thinkers who aren’t afraid to call it like they see it. Dan Riehl of Riehl World View is a great example.
I like to read work by Michelle Malkin, Thomas Sowell, Charles Krauthammer, Rich Lowry, Deroy Murdock, and Mark Steyn. And there are others.
For entertainment value from the Left, I visit The Huffington Post, Salon.com, and read Mike Lupica’s political commentary. Oh, and The New York Times, but that’s a given.
- Did you attend any of the 9/11 rallies? – Joann; California
I didn’t. I was very close to the September 11, 2001 NYC terrorist attack, less than 500 feet from the South Tower when it was hit. I feel incredibly lucky to have missed a memo that would have cost me my life.
I’ve done the same thing every September 11th since then. I say a prayer in the morning between 8:45 and 9:05 a.m., the time during which our towers were hit. In the evening, I make a trip to Ground Zero and say two prayers – one for the innocent Americans who lost their lives that day and one for the future of our country.
I commend all Americans who make it a point every September 11 – in whatever way, shape, or form they choose – to honor the fallen and to never forget the tragedy we endured that day.
I also believe it’s incredibly important to rally behind leaders who will do the best they can to see to it that no attacks like those suffered on 9/11/01 will ever happen again.
