Top 5 Picks for Fabulous Fall Travel

fall autumn travelMany of us are in the mindset that summer is the best traveling season, but I would encourage you to consider Fall as well. At this time of year, the weather is still lovely, the foliage is beautiful and there are lots of festivals and natural splendor to be enjoyed just about anywhere you choose to go. Here are some of my top picks for Fall travel in North America.

Vancouver

Once all of the summer tourists have gone home, the leaves and the temperatures begin to fall, but so do the prices! Fall is also a great time to visit Vancouver because it’s festival season! The locals all flock to fun festivals all over the city and you can join them for a healthy dose of the local culture. Oh, and don’t forget to check out that colorful foliage!

Boston

Imagine strolling down the Freedom Trail through Boston Common wearing your favorite cozy sweater, sipping hot apple cider and enjoying the crisp air. There’s something really special about Boston, and being there in the Fall is an even bigger treat. Maybe it’s the college town atmosphere, the gorgeous brownstones or the perfect integration of classic with contemporary that makes it so different than anywhere else.

New York City

New York City is always waiting for you with something special to offer no matter what the season. In autumn, you’ll get to see the trees in Central Park dressed in their colorful best and there are many fall festivals to be enjoyed all over the city. The air is crisp and you might just find a few things flavored with pumpkin or maple to get your taste buds in on the autumn fun.

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone is breathtaking any time of the year, and Fall is no exception. Not only is the transition from summer incredibly colorful, but the tourists have gone home and you’re free to relax and enjoy the views undisturbed. Your camera will be so happy!

New Orleans

The humidity has dried up along with the crowds, making the weather comfortable and the city open for countless cultural festivities. Enjoy the season with its friendly revelry and engaging atmosphere. Explore the spooky side of New Orleans in October and savor the flavors at festivals that showcase local delights like Po-Boys and Oysters.

Fall is an absolutely wonderful time to travel. If your schedule allows for it, I highly encourage you to put an autumnal adventure at the top of your list.

Why would I want to spend money visiting these expensive, democrat-controlled cities when the Midwest is every bit as beautiful?

Sounds good but where I live we are putting the pieces back together after hurricane Harvey. We appreciate FEMA rushing down here and turning down most applications for help. Another story that isn’t in the media.

Ed, shame on FEMA! It’s bad enough that you had to go through Hurricane Harvey, let alone put up with FEMA’s lack of support afterwards! FEMA is another agency that needs to be looked into, if you ask me. Just like the American Red Cross! BTW we live in Florida, now & just experienced our 1st big Hurricane, with Irma.. Good Luck with the recovery & continued prayers for Texas & Florida.

Thank you for your concerns, we had the national guard helping, the red cross was helping as well. There were numerous Christian organizations and other private organizations helping out. The power companies were working big time rebuilding their power lines etc. and I read where one lineman was killed in another location while working restoration. I will bet that FEMA was the most expensive and least effective. Fantasically Expensive Morally Absent.

As I understand from our local media, our Arizona Search and Rescue teams trained to get people out of flood situations(yes it does flood from areas in Arizona just not hurricane style) who first went to Texas/Louisiana and then reassigned to Florida, got their mission instructions from FEMA. So I guess those of us not in the areas affected only know what is really happening or whose job does what, is to hear from those affected by it. I know there were many, many private and Christian organizations who sent in tremendous support which is awesome as we can not expect our federal government to handle the many needs that arose. We need to limit the involvement and cost of them as I believe our funds go further when private aid is used.

Sorry, but I find that hard to believe. If FEMA wasn’t working out there would be a dull roar of constant whining from the media blaming Trump. Texans should be above waiting for someone to come in and save them. Too many believe after seeing New Orleans residents whining and complaining that no one came to help them while sitting their butts waiting on the gov’t that everyone is entitled to be taken care of from cradle to grave! Look to the gov’t for help, but don’t depend on them for everything! Help yourselves!

Texans are not waiting for the governments help. We are doing without their help. We do expect people to do a job that they are paid to do such as FEMA. I really don’t give a damn what you believe what you think, I speak the truth. Since I am here, where all this is going on , I have a front row seat as to what is going on, not yourself.

Whether you believe it or not doesn’t change the facts. They are not doing the job that us taxpayers are paying them for. They get on television and accept praise from politicians that think they are helping people when they are not. I personally know of cases where they turned down peoples request for help that really needed it. One home was torn up badly and a FEMA inspector’s report stated the extensive damages. FEMA replied that the damage was not due to a natural disaster. A hurricane not a natural disaster ? I could go on and on about different cases. The private organizations as well as Red Cross and the National Guard were a big help. We do not rely on the government to do for us here, we take care of ourselves, but when an agency tells everyone to apply for help then consistently turns people down then it’s a scam. we do not like scammers and do not have time to play games.

Rick, you should know that FEMA will not help anyone with insurance. My daughters house was destroyed and the insurance company offered them $40,000. You cannot rebuild a 3 bedroom house for that.
